Gatka

Gatka is an ancient martial art introduced to Sikhs by the Gurus to help defend freedom of religion and human rights of Sikhs and non-Sikhs. It is considered to be a spiritual experience as well as a great form of physical exercise. Both these aspects of the person are developed to a high level during the learning phase in this ancient art.

Gurmat Center has been teaching Gatka since 2001 and currently offers 2 classes which are further separated based on their skill level. Students are provided with many opportunities to display their Gatka skills during Nagar Kirtans, Awards ceremony and Shaheedi Smagam.

Archery, training at Gurmat Center also includes as it assits in focus, patience, and precision that complements the physical and spiritual dimensions of this ancient art. Archery connects students to their Sikh warrior heritage while developing concentration and physical coordination. Students of all experience levels are welcome, with classes structured to progressively build technique and confidence.
