Jatinder Singh, our respected Senior Administrator and founding Director, has had a profound connection to our organization since 1993. Better known as Veer Jee, they are a multifaceted individual who plays various pivotal roles at Gurmat Center, contributing significantly to its growth and success. In addition to his extensive contributions at Gurmat Center, Veer Jee has been a dedicated educator in the Abbotsford School District
since 2006, further showcasing his commitment to education and community development. Veer Jee’s long-standing commitment and diverse skill set make him an invaluable asset, ensuring the seamless operation and development of our initiatives. With decades of experience, Veer Jee continues to embody dedication and expertise in his role as a key member of our team.
Arshveer Kaur is a devoted member with a longstanding connection to Gurmat Center since her preschool years, having attended the inaugural Sikh preschool in Abbotsford. She has been instrumental as both a Sevadar and Administrator, actively contributing to diverse events and programs and amassing valuable experience. Currently serving as an educator in the Abbotsford School District, Arshveer Kaur leverages her academic credentials—a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Fraser Valley. Her educational accomplishments underscore her dedication to service and professional development within the Gurmat Center community. Since 2011, Arshveer Kaur has been at the forefront, guiding the youth at Gurmat Center in Kirtan Seva.
Introducing Harveen Kaur, our accomplished Administrator at Gurmat Center, whose journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment and passion for our organization. Having completed all Gurmat Center levels, she embodies a deep understanding of our mission and values. As a devoted member of the Seva Club, Harveen consistently dedicated her time to various community initiatives, including volunteering for Sunday Darbar, Gurmat Camps, Simran Club, Gurmat Center Art classes, and Kirtan classes. Starting as an Assistant Administrator, she worked her way up to becoming a Junior Administrator and eventually assumed the role of Administrator. In the upcoming school year, Harveen will embark on a new chapter as she begins her academic journey at the University of the Fraser Valley, further enriching her contributions to Gurmat Center.
Jaskirat Kaur has been a dedicated member of Gurmat Center since Grade 1, progressing from a camper to a committed volunteer in Grade 7, and now serving as Senior Administrative Support Staff. She oversees the Punjabi and Santhia Department, managing exams, coordinating with teachers, and streamlining processes. As Volunteer Department Head, she organizes applications, schedules, and provides ongoing support to the team. Additionally, Currently pursuing a Kinesiology degree, Jaskirat brings strong leadership, organization, and a passion for service to her role, supporting the growth of the GC community.
Ajaya Kaur has been a dedicated member of the Gurmat Center community for 13 years, beginning her journey as a student in Grade 1 and completing all levels of study. Her extensive seva includes contributions to summer and spring camps, the Dharam Parchar Store, GC outreach, and major events such as the Annual Awards Ceremony and Shaheedi Smagam. Currently a second-year university student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of the Fraser Valley, Ajaya aspires to become a lawyer. Known for her kindness and excellent customer service, she efficiently manages daily tasks, coordinates volunteers, and ensures smooth operations at Gurmat Center.
Keerit Kaur is a committed Seva Club member who serves as part of the Support Staff team at Gurmat Center. She has successfully completed all Punjabi levels and is currently enrolled in Level 6 Part 2, focusing on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Santhia. Keerit holds a strong interest in Sikh history and continues to deepen her understanding of Sikhi through her studies and seva. A Grade 10 student at W.J. Mouat Secondary School, she aspires to pursue a career in the dental field. She values teamwork, physical activity, and actively contributes to camps and various Gurmat Center programs.
Puneet Kaur is a Support Staff member in training at Gurmat Center and is currently completing Level 6 Part 2, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji santhia. She enjoys learning about Sikh history, listening to Katha and Kirtan, and deepening her understanding of Gurbani through Santhia. A grade 8 student at Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School, she enjoys crocheting and playing volleyball. Puneet hopes to pursue a career in dentistry in the future and continues to serve with dedication while balancing her academic and spiritual growth.

Nimrat Kaur is a Support Staff in Training at Gurmat Center. She is currently in Grade 8 at Abbotsford Middle School and hopes to pursue a career in teaching. Her interests include sports, especially basketball and badminton, as well as reading and cooking. In her free time, she studies ASL with her siblings to strengthen her communication skills. At Gurmat Center, Nimrat has served through Seva Club and has supported Punjabi classes, the Dharm Parchar Store, and the office team over the past two years. Most recently, she volunteered at Summer Camp for the first time and continues to support Gurmat Center programs wherever help is needed.
Ranjit Kaur has been an integral part of Gurmat Center (GC) for over 26 years, beginning their journey when their daughters were admitted to learn, after which they began volunteering. Their dedication and commitment to serving the community led to a teaching position, where they now hold the role of a Punjabi teacher for Levels 1 and 2. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from India, they have made invaluable contributions to GC’s growth, including managing office work, registration, and teaching, as well as overseeing various administrative tasks such as handling bank cheques and school-related duties. Their career at GC has evolved from starting as a sevadar, where they organized langar and camps, to focusing solely on teaching Punjabi classes after the onset of Covid-19. Outside of Gurmat Center, they spent much of their career life as a translator as well. Through their service and teaching, they continue to nurture the growth and strength of the community at GC.
Narinder Kaur has been an integral part of Gurmat Center, currently serving as a Level 2 Punjabi teacher. Her journey began 18 years ago when her son joined GC, and she actively volunteered alongside other parents and mentors. With an impressive educational background, including four degrees in India—spanning science education, nursing, and master's degrees in education and English—along with a diploma in adult teaching, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Narinder Kaur has contributed significantly to the center’s academic growth by helping refine the grading system and providing valuable curriculum feedback. Beyond teaching, she enjoys kirtan, daily meditation, and yoga.
Saihaj Kaur is a dedicated Level 1 Punjabi Teacher and an integral part of the administrative team at the Gurmat Center. Her journey began in 2017 when she responded to an invitation to serve as a kirtan volunteer. Currently in her third year of University, currently at BCIT, Saihaj has contributed significantly to GC through thoughtful ideas for the reading exam schedule, summer camp activities, and curriculum development. Starting her seva in the Seva Club, she later became a kirtan volunteer, summer camp teacher, and eventually a Level 1 teacher. Passionate about teaching and Sikhi, she is known for her problem-solving abilities, punctuality, and creating a welcoming, supportive environment for all students.
Gurpreet Kaur is a Level 3 Punjabi Class Teacher at Gurmat Center. With an M.A. in Political Science, a B.Ed., and a B.A. from Punjabi University, Chandigarh (India), she brings a strong academic foundation and 14 years of teaching experience in India. She joined Gurmat Center’s teaching team this year and values supporting students in building confidence in Punjabi.
Ravi Singh has been an integral part of Gurmat Center since 2004, when he first came to register his children and soon after took on the role of a Santhia teacher in 2008. With a background in education including degrees in Physical Education and a BeD, along with his extensive Gurmat studies at Taksal, he has dedicated himself to spreading the message of Sikhi within the community. His unwavering commitment to teaching Gurbani with precision and passion has greatly contributed to GC’s growth. Outside of his professional role, he finds joy in listening to kirtan and teaching Gurbani. Known for his humility, Bhai Ravi Singh refrains from self-praise but excels in his work, particularly in the areas of building and teaching.
Gursimar Kaur serves at Gurmat Center as an Admin Support Manager and Santhia Teacher. She supports camp operations through frontline leadership in volunteer and camper coordination, orientation support, behavior management, and curriculum development. Gursimar began her journey at Gurmat Center as a Sangat member at Sunday Youth & Family Darbar (SYFD). She later joined Punjabi classes at Level 4, beginning with Santhia, and completed all levels before continuing her seva as a Santhia volunteer and, eventually, a teacher.Her first volunteer experience was at Gurmat Center’s Summer Camp, and she has since served at nearly every camp (Summer, Winter, and Spring), with only a few exceptions due to travel. She is also blessed to perform regular Kirtan seva at Sunday Youth & Family Darbar. Gursimar Kaur has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of the Fraser Valley and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Counselling through Yorkville University (online). She is passionate about mental health and community support, with a particular interest in respectful and effective Sikh parenting.
Sukhveer Singh has been part of Gurmat Center since 2014, beginning as a student and gradually taking on multiple Seva roles. He currently serves as a Level 4 Nitnem Santhia Teacher, Generalist. His contributions range from teaching Santhia and enhancing student learning to optimizing internal processes. With a strong background in technology, creative design, and Kirtan, he brings both skill and passion to his Seva. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Sukhveer Singh remains dedicated to serving the Sangat, ensuring that Gurmat Center continues to thrive as a space for learning and spiritual growth.
Evan Singh is a dedicated Santhia teacher at Gurmat Center and takes on the Generalist role. His journey with Gurmat Center began in 2012 as a Level 1 student, and after progressing through the levels, he completed Level 6 “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Santhia Part 2” in 2019. Over the years, Evan Singh has volunteered at various Camps and Smagams, while deepening his understanding of Sikhi, Gurbani, and Punjabi comprehension. Now, as a teacher, Evan Singh’s commitment to fostering spiritual growth and his natural ability to connect with students enriches the Gurmat Center community.
Ranvir Singh has been actively involved with Gurmat Center since 2010, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to seva and youth development. A former Seva Club member, he continues to serve the community as a Level 4 Nitnem Santhia teacher, guiding students with patience, discipline, and a strong foundation in Gurmat values. Ranvir Singh is currently pursuing a degree in Criminology at the University of the Fraser Valley, with aspirations of serving the community as a police officer with the Abbotsford Police Department. His passion for sports, including wrestling and basketball, along with his love for reading, are important parts of his life outside of seva and academics. Through both his academic pursuits and seva, Ranvir Singh strives to embody leadership, integrity, and service in every aspect of his life.
