Gurmat Center students got the chance to participate in a Youth Gurmat Sangeet Smagam for Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s 550th Prakash Purab on Friday, August 23, 2019. Students performed Kirtan in Raag Goojari and Raag Sarang while also getting a chance to listen to many other Shabads in various Raags. It was amazing to see the youth sing Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s Bani in the same Raags Guru Jee composed the Bani in.
Thank you to everyone that came by the Gurmat Center tent on Nagar Kirtan! Click here to view pictures!
A big thank you to Sukhmani Kaur from @basicsofsikhi for visiting the Gurmat Center! Session 3 campers have been singing the Kiddie Sangat nursery rhymes throughout camp and have been so lucky to sing along with Bhanjee herself, as well as Gurprit Kaur from Malaysia.
For the 39th monthly GCY event, Bhai Gurkeerat Singh spoke about the qualities of a Sant as well as Sant Kartar Singh Jee Bhindrawale. Afterwards, the youth enjoyed a few games of volleyball and dinner. GCY provides a great atmosphere for youth to learn and grow together. The next event will be on September 14, 2019. A big thank you to all the volunteers that took time out of their summer to volunteer at Summer Camp. We greatly appreciate the hard work and effort our volunteers have put in to making the camp a success. We recognized volunteers this weekend by spending an entire day in Vancouver. The appreciation trip started with a hike at Cypress Falls, followed by burritos and brownies for lunch and sports at the Cypress Falls Park. Lastly, many volunteers got to experience dragon boating for the first time with False Creek Racing Canoe Club.
