This program is aimed at high school (grade 9 or higher) and university students. Special guest speakers are invited to facilitate healthy discussion in a non-judgemental way. In addition to open dialogue GCY also promotes health and fitness, teamwork and skill building exercises. This provides a sense of belonging and identity. Great discussion, fun sports and amazing food are all great reasons to sign up for this program.
This month's GCY program took place on Saturday, August 26. Sahib Kaur and Abinash Kaur, our inspiring guest speakers and long time students and Sevadars, led an insightful discussion on how to thrive in academic/professional environments with your Sikh identity. The evening continued with an exciting game of Ultimate Frisbee, where the competition was as fierce as the throws, and a yummy dinner! Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us!
Summer Gurmat Camp 2023 was a great success! Campers enjoyed learning about their Sikh identity, playing sports and games, making malas, and much more! To infuse our curriculum with a stronger Sikhi presence, we incorporated a range of activities into our camp day. We focused on Sikh-specific activities such as Sakhi time, Gatka, and also dedicated Seva time to instill values of selfless service and community engagement. Summer Camp 2023 was twice the fun with two amazing sessions! Double the memories, double the laughter, and double the excitement.
After a successful launch last school year, we're thrilled to announce that, with Maharaj Jee's kirpa, we will be continuing Dastar Tying classes next year too.
