Day 2 of Spring Camp was a success! All classes were focused on Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji, the lion of Punjab. Campers also got to learn a lot in Gatka class with Bhai Jagjit Singh. The rest of the day was full of a yummy lunch and snacks, sports & games and Darbar time. 

After 3 years, Spring Gurmat Camp has finally launched! Campers enjoyed a variety of activities, sports & games, Gurmat, Sikh History, and Gatka class! The theme of this year’s Spring Camp is “Raj Karega Khalsa”! On day 1, we focused on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Jee. 

Sevadars spent all day prepping for Spring Gurmat Camp! The day consisted of physical set up, & schedule planning for all age groups. We are looking forward to finally being able to host Spring Camp after 3 years!

Admin members visited Kalgidhar Gurmat Academy in Edmonton! During the visit, Sevadars saw the academy in action and the beautiful work being done for the Sikh youth in Edmonton. With Maharaj’s Kirpa, Sevadars also shared resources and experiences through several meetings. May Maharaj bless the academy’s wonderful and hardworking Sevadars with more Seva and success. We cannot wait to see the academy grow more and more!

February's GCY guest speaker was Bhai Gurkeerat Singh. Bhai Sahib shared his personal reflections about Khalsa Vaheer & Bhai Amritpal Singh. Sangat also got to get a sneak peek of a documentary that Bhai Sahib is preparing! Then, everyone headed to the gym to play some basketball. The evening ended off with pizza dinner and ice cream sundaes for dessert!

For the month of January, GCY was held back at its original location! It was wonderful to host the event there. Our speaker for the evening was Tejpreet Kaur, who led a discussion about balancing Sikhi and school along with a discussion about the importance of Education in Sikhi! After the discussion, everyone headed to the gym to play an intense and fun game of dodgeball. This was followed by pizza dinner and ice cream sundaes!

Gurmat Center is a registered society that is run by a board of directors, administrators, teachers and youth volunteers. We are grateful for our amazing team who invest their time and energy into the organization! All of our success is due to our amazing Sevadars, Sangat, and Guru Jee!

As part of our 30th anniversary celebrations, students and staff received gym bags. The bags contain custom GC 30th anniversary pencils, wristband, water bottle and pin! Thank you to all our sponsors for making this possible.

On October 31st, 2022, Sangat came together to remember the Sikh genocide of 1984 at the 20th Annual Shaheedi Smagam. As Sangat arrived, Sevadars gave out wristbands for a chance to win prizes and a candy bag! The event began with Kirtan, followed by a media presentation led by our MC’s, and Bhai Amandeep Singh Ji’s (UK) Katha on the 1984 Sikh genocide.This was followed by 3 grand prize draws, in which sangat got the chance to win an air hockey table, basketball arcade game, and Sony headphones!

On Sunday, December 25, Sangat gathered and watched “Chaar Sahibzaday” to remember the Sikh ithihas that took place in the month of Poh. After the movie, prizes were drawn for children that attended the event. Let’s not forget the countless sacrifices and Shaheedis of our ancestors, including Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Jee and Their entire family. It is because of their Kurbani that we are here today.
