It was so nice to have the youth come out on Saturday morning to pack candy bags for the Shaheedi Smagam. Together, our team of 40 Sevadars prepared 250 candy bags in one hour! Remember to sign up online so that you can receive your candy bag on October 31.

Gatka classes have started up again for the Akali Baba Phoola Singh Ji Gatka Akhara, which was started in 2001. This class took place on Saturday with our Gatka teachers Bhai Gurkeerat Singh and Bibi Amanjot Kaur. Students started the class with Ardaas, Shastar Naam Mala Bani and stretches. Teachers also shared Sakhis of Shaheeds and the importance of Shastar Vidhya. The first class focused on learning the Mool Pantra which will help build a good foundation for Gatka. 

Kirtan classes began this week! We are very excited to welcome our new students in the beginner level & are also looking forward to seeing the older students’ achievements this year! Registration is still open if you would like to take part in these classes!

For this month's GCY program, we were fortunate to have Bibi Satnam Kaur lead the youth in a discussion about the importance of maintaining Rehat & Routine. It was a wonderful and engaging discussion! The evening ended off with a game of kho-kho and dinner. 

Punjabi class students are into their third week of classes. Our newest students have already learned the first 15 letters of Gurmukhi. Level 2 & 3 students completed their review and are moving onto learning tenses, grammar, vowels and much more!

Gurmat Center Santhia classes began last week. All students and teachers began their classes in Darbar by receiving the blessings of Maharaj through an Ardaas and Hukamnama. Santhia classes consist of Nitnem Santhia as well as Guru Granth Sahib Jee Santhia (part 1 & 2). It is amazing to see all the students recieving Santhia at such a young age!

Today was the first day of Sikh Studies, a class focused on providing youth with a foundational understanding of Sikhi. A wide range of topics will be covered where students will have the opportunity to expand their understanding by engaging in discussion, watching documentaries and attending field trips. Currently we have over 30 students enrolled in the class!

Our staff team meets for our annually for the school start up meeting. We discussed important teacher and classroom procedures along with changes for the upcoming year. Our team is looking forward to another great year full of lots of learning!
