Balraj Singh and family had sponsored Saturday's L4H event. The family prepared Langar at the Gurdwara Sahib and served it to the homeless and hungry of Abbotsford at the Salvation Army. See below some pictures of the event. 

Gurmat Center families serve at the Salvation Army every 2nd and 4th Saturday of a month. The concept of feeding those in need has its beginnings over 500 years ago with the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Langar is a prime example of Seva which is prepared by volunteers and funded by donations. It develops compassion and leads to social justice.

A big thank you to Sukhmani Kaur from @basicsofsikhi for visiting the Gurmat Center! Session 3 campers have been singing the Kiddie Sangat nursery rhymes throughout camp and have been so lucky to sing along with Bhanjee herself, as well as Gurprit Kaur from Malaysia.   

For the 39th monthly GCY event, Bhai Gurkeerat Singh spoke about the qualities of a Sant as well as Sant Kartar Singh Jee Bhindrawale. Afterwards, the youth enjoyed a few games of volleyball and dinner. GCY provides a great atmosphere for youth to learn and grow together. The next event will be on September 14, 2019. GCY allows youth in high school and university to explore Gurmat together without any judgement and creates a healthy sense of belonging. 

We are very proud of our city, Abbotsford, for qualifying in the nationals in the Communities in Bloom program. The judges visited Abbotsford and Gurmat Center was honoured to be invited along with 9 other organizations to represent the great work done in the Abbotsford community.

A big thank you to all the volunteers that took time out of their summer to volunteer at Summer Camp. We greatly appreciate the hard work and effort our volunteers have put in to making the camp a success. We recognized volunteers this weekend by spending an entire day in Vancouver. The appreciation trip started with a hike at Cypress Falls, followed by burritos and brownies for lunch and sports at the Cypress Falls Park. Lastly, many volunteers got to experience dragon boating for the first time with False Creek Racing Canoe Club. 

Gurmat Center wants to provide the sangat with clean and washed rumaals to use when coming to the Gurdwara. We are going to make 1000 thousand new royal blue rumaals and a new bin to place the rumaals in. We need you help and support!

After 8 years, the Punjabi classroom is getting renovated! The classroom is going to have new paint and rug. We need your support! Please consider making a donation for this project. We are really excited for the students to see their classroom in September!
