Back at GC!

Our team is back at Gurmat Center and is working hard with the guidance of BC health authorities to prepare for the safe return of students, volunteers, and staff in September! We will continue to follow recommendations from our provincial health officer, the Canadian government and local authorities as we plan for a gradual return to Gurmat Center programs and activities.

COVID-19: Class Refund Update

All registered students have been refunded for the months of April & May. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we processed refunds. Fees have been refunded to the card that was used while registering for the class. Please see the table below for refund amounts according to classes. 

Virtual Canada Day 2020: Turban, Eh? Zone

While this year we are not able to bring out the colourful turbans at the City's annual Canada Day celebrations, we are excited to announce our participation in the very first Virtual Canada Day put on by the City of Abbotsford! 

The festivities will begin on July 1 and will continue throughout the month of July. Although the celebrations will look a bit different this year, Canada Day favourites and Gurmat Center's popular Turban, Eh? zone can still be experienced from the comfort of your home!

Anti Bullying Day

Anti Bullying Day is celebrated all around the nation to stand up against bullying. Today, Gurmat Center students took part by wearing pink to their classes!

27th Annual Cross Legged Competition

Gurmat Center’s 27th Annual Cross Legged Competition happened on Saturday, February 15. Over 75 students participated in this annual event! Every student received a custom certificate and prizes. Every hour, the rules got harder and the prizes got better. This competition challenges students to keep meditative focus on both the Mool Mantar playing in the background and on staying cross legged for as long a possible.

GCY Event #44

Our 44th Gurmat Center Youth Program took place on Saturday. 30 youth members participated in this month’s program. We started off with a discussion about health and diet and ended off with handball and dinner. Next month’s GCY group will be attending Guru Nanak Academy's GNA Talks Conference. Rumaal Project

We are pleased to announce the official launch of the Rumaal Project! This new initiative provides Sangat with clean, washed rumaals to use when coming to Gurdwara Sahib Kalghidhar Darbar.

27th Annual Cross Legged Competition

Sign-up today for the 27th Annual Cross-Legged Competition! This event is open to all students from Kindergarten to grade 12. Students are divided into three grade groups and are encouraged to sit in a cross-legged position for as long as possible. By reciting Mool Mantar Jaap during the competition, children are given the opportunity to develop Sikh values of patience and focus.
